Rocuronium bromide is a muscle relaxant, which can cause skeletal muscle relaxation. Combined with other general anesthesia drugs, it can complete surgical operations requiring muscle relaxation under relatively shallow general anesthesia, such as tracheal intubation and abdominal surgery.
It is currently the fastest acting non-depolarizing muscle relaxer, acting on the postsynaptic membrane of the neuromuscular junction, competing with acetylcholine for receptors, and can be fully effective within 60 seconds when given in larger doses.
